Installing Tile Shower and Floor

Installing Tile Shower and Floor

Using standard size tiles, a layout was designed to give the shower a custom design at an affordable price.

Behind the scenes:

Schleuter, a company of German engineers, designed the Kerdi Shower System. The product is a waterproof membrane that is covered in a thin layer of fleece on both sides so that it can be glued to the walls and floor, and the tile can be set right onto it. The result is a continuous waterproof surface from the top of the wall all the way to the drain. No room for leaks or areas for water to build up. It solves all of the design flaws in the conventional method of installing showers.

For the bathroom floor, Schleuter engineered Dirta, another product that brings this project above and beyond the quality of conventional construction. It works well with the NuHeat electric radiant heat mats that warm your toes as you step out of the shower.
